A Koala Landscape created at Eastern Creek
Over 1000 trees planted at Western Sydney International Dragway for a NSW Koala Captive Breeding Program
One of Blacktown City’s well-known Corporate Citizens, Jim Read, CEO for Western Sydney International Dragway is supporting a worthwhile cause for Koalas – Koala Tree Landscape. Jim has allowed the organisation over the past 11 months plant over 1000 native trees at his Dragway site in Eastern Creek for a Koala Breeding Program being develop in the aim of all wildlife parks in NSW working together and future conservation initiatives.
Koala Tree Landscape is an organization committed to educating the general public about Australian flora and fauna, and focuses primarily on planting trees to maintain all aspects of the environment.
WSID has seen the potential of this initiative, the planting of native trees around the Dragway will improve the local environment;
- Improve soil structure
- Reduce noise levels
- Reduce wind & fire hazards
- Offset emissions produced by their events throughout the year
“It is fantastic to see our Corporate Citizens getting involved in their local environment. The local environment is not the responsibility of the local community and also our City’s Corporate Citizens”, Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly, OAM said.
